Brain Blenders

Vomit Bag Advertisement

I realize that most people would prefer that I use the more widely accepted term "air sickness" bag as a header, but frankly I still try to drive hits to BrainBlenders so I use titles that are more likely to pop up in desired search engines.

Which brings me to my main point, for some time now I have undertaken viral campaigns to promote the site. From writing on fogged up bathroom mirrors to t-shirts with the name printed on them I have attempted to promote BB only in geurilla methods. Well. now I am ready to unveil my other methodology which I would like some help in getting spread.

Vomit bag ads are clearly the wave of the future! I don't think most of the advertising world will jump on board with me in this idea, but they are wrong. Of course I need your help in promoting this campaign. Please do me a favor and snap a little photo of the bag and I will make a photo album out of the work. By the way, Sharpie's work the best, but a good ole pen will do the trick just as easily.

P.S. don't try to bring a spray paint can on the plane to do this, the TSA frowns upon that type of material now.

Arm band

Armbandwell I did it - went and got a tattoo. Told the artist that he could just do "whatever". And this is what "Whatever" looks like. Totally kidding, I didn't get a permanent tattoo, what I did get was a temporary one for an idea session that I am working on this week. We are working against a specific consumer-type and this was one of the little things we did to get the team into the demographic. So even though the tattoo is not real, I did receive a lot of compliments on this work. Maybe I should get one for real?

Ads coming to a wheel near you

PimpstarwheelsI am always looking for advertising in interesting places...call it "Brandalizm". So when I saw these wheels the other day, I was blown away. I didn't get a great picture of what I saw, but the picture on the left is of the Coca Cola logo.

What you see here is a photo of the wheels in motion, and LED lights comprise the visual to make just about anything you want to display on your wheels. I went to the website and they have great pictures and even a video that gives you a great picture of what the wheels can display. Pretty cool idea until a major car pile up. Reminds me of the concept car in Japan that displays emotion.

eNook

EnookI have found my next desk. The eNook is a workstation made for tight spaces where power for your gadgets is a premium. And even though I don't have a problem with space or access to a power source, I do want my desk to be out of the way, so business can happen around me. Did I ever mention I like people around? I could several of these being beneficial in my space, for use by me, other co-workers, and client space as well.

Here are the specs..

Nancy Boy

Nancy_boy_outsideNeed to tell you about the coolest store I have been too in several months...well, since the Best Buy concept store Escape. Nancy Boy is a store on 347 Hayes Street, San Francisco that offers great smelling men's soaps, shampoo, shaving supplies, and laundry soap. Not to mention the great room sprays and whatnot. I stepped in the store Friday at around 3:00 and the place was packed. The door was open and the aroma coming from the inside was driving cosnumers in like bees to pollen. Their website is completely up to date, and I would highly recommend the Pre-Shave Oil as a man, due to the fact that it works and I have never had closer shaves.

Seriously, come feel my face next time you see me. That will prove it!

Mirror Writing

Brain_writing_2I've started a new viral campaign to promote BrainBlenders...and would love some assistance in the matter. Let me set this up. Last year I stepped out of a shower in a hotel room and noticed, as usual, that the mirror was completely fogged up, but could see clearly where the maid had wiped the glass and had left a good 8 inch gap of uncleaned mirror at the top. So, I thought it would be a great place to write a message.

You know, something like "Call your Mom", or "Eat your Veggies". Then, obviously it came to me...BrainBlenders.com. Simply put...the only message worth putting in a foggy mirror. I've started a photo album with the pictures I have taken, with the location of each pic. Send me yours...if you will and I'll be sure to add them to the cause. ONE LOVE!!

Tao of Sharpie

SharpieIf I've never mentioned this, now seems to be a good time...I love Sharpie's. I use Sharpie's all the time, especially at work. I am often in need of writing on large easel pads or making notes onto index cards, and no other pen will do. If you want people to be able to read your work from some distance, or want to boldly capture a singular thought on an index card or post it, then Sharpie is THE ONLY WAY TO GO. I have tried every other permanent marker available...the Staples knock-off brand, Avery Marks-a-lot, Bic Mark-it, Eberhard-Faber, RediSharp and countless others - and the bottom line is they all stink. Here is why:

  • Knock-off brands: low grade quality
  • Avery: The Native American name for this one is, "Label that bleeds all over hands"
  • Bic: Tip diminishes in less than one page
  • Eberhard-Faber: Motto - "We make great charcoal art supplies, oh you wanted a permanent marker? Did we mention we make good charcoal art supplies?"
  • RediSharp: They have a soft rubber grip. That's it...soft, rubber grip. Hanging their hat on that one?

I have every size of Sharpie known to man in my bag...not just in the office - but the bag! I use the extra fine point to write notes to people (like I'm some kind of grade-school student - writing notes to people?), I use the retractable Sharpie (prefer orange) to write during group exercises, I use the bold chisel tip to make notes on large easel pads, and the minis I hang in places that I might need to make a permanent mark on - like in the garage.

I am a bit of a writing tool fanatic. I kept one mechanical pencil through high school and college, as an example. So pens matter to me, even though my penmanship might not indicate it. Maybe that is why I like the Sharpie...it's a pen that works - works well, and can be utilized for so many jobs. What would make them better, is if they made a refillable one. I'd spend $40 on a retractable Sharpie that I could buy refills for.

They copped my style

Reveriesmagazine_1Much love to Reveries, the great site that sends out Cool News 5 days a week. I've been receiving the email for a couple of years, and really like the articles. They are definitely category leaders when it comes to what Seth Godin and Reveries bunch provide, but - THEY HAVE TOTALLY COPPED MY STYLE!!!

Hit that screen-shot to see what their "new" email looks like now. That is the EXACT format I've been sending BrainMail out in for well over 2 years. Not a close replica, but exactly. This is how I know...I use the same email manager that they use TrueFire's MailDog. Listen, I'm not complaining that Reveries is now using the same template for their emails that I use for mine...just don't forget who was here first! Yeah yeah...I know - tell that to everybody who showed up first only to be trumped by whoever came after and better.

Lime Party

Lime_party1_111Last Friday I attended the "Lime Party" in CHI. The whole thing was lime...the entire floor of the building was decorated in lime, people wore lime, drinks and food offerings were "limed out" too. It was truly subLIME! Check out these shots from the event.

Walking around the city I started noticing the copious amounts of lime colored offerings. Seriously...it's everywhere - I think Michigan Avenue sent out a memo to all the storefronts that they should catch up quickly with the color.

And in case, like me, you wondered...
Not Lime
Not Lime
Not Lime
Not Lime
Not Lime

Organic Aroma-therapeutic Paint

Anna_sova_paintsAnna Sova Luxury Organics are safe for kids, pregnant ladies, and if  you add a $9 bottle of Anna Sova Organic Aromatherapy to your room it will smell like fresh lemons, vanilla, orange and cloves, or sandalwood and spices — rather than headache-inducing chemicals.

"Up to 99% food grade ingredients !
This is NOT a petrochemical (PVA-poly vinyl acrylic plastic) stretched across your wall.
Our wall finish does NOT contain the same toxic ingredients in what the paint industry calls paint.
You breathe the volatile organic carbons from painted wall finish.
Isn’t breathing it the same as eating it?
Just consider a gallon of our wall finish 12 pounds of vanilla truffles, it’s delicious!"
