MOD my XBOX baby!!

2 years ago Microsoft one-ups Sony Playstation by essentially releasing the most powerful computer you can purchase for $199 ($299 at release). At the core the Xbox is a P3 733-Mhz processor, 10 Gig hard drive, DVD, Ethernet, four friggen USB ports, and a donkey kicking Nvidia graphics processor. Mod this puppy and you got your self a sweet “arse” home personal computer that will still play all Xbox games.

Ok listen up kiddies, Xbox mods are frowned on and are not supported by Microsoft (why would they be?) and just may be illegal under the DMCA (no may about it). If you do decide to mod your Xbox, you are heartily and knowingly voiding the warranty and probably breaking the law. If you or some moron screws it up and installs it incorrectly, modding could damage your Xbox. (NO, Really?)

Now that I have that off my chest lets take a quick gander at what a modded Xbox could hypothetically do:

Store your Xbox Games on your Xbox hard drive for playing backup copies
Store your DVD’s on your Xbox hard drive for playing backup copies
Use your Xbox as web browser
Play CD-R disk
Play CDRW disk
Play DviX, MP3 and Windows Media Audio files
Run Linux operating system
Run emulators

Don’t Solder Soldier

In the early days of console modding before Microsoft shut most of everyone down, chips
needed to be soldered on to the Xbox mother board. Now most chips just need to be aligned and screwed down to work (just like A.Ford). That is why I, Iike others prefer the Xecuter Plus chips, screw it down then boot up your Xbox and you should see the Xecuter logo. The Good

The ability to store and play games, DVD’s, and music on your Xbox

The Bad

Having Microsoft put the mod on you because of your own bearded interpretation of the “fair use guidelines”. Jacking up your Xbox beyond repair because, cousin Festus used a hot glue gun instead of a soldering iron.

The Donkey Kick

In the community shower having your cell-mate giggle at you, call you knuckle nuts, and ask if you want to spoon later that night.
