Marcin Panpuch has a vision for the future and it floats...or possibly hangs...whatever it does- it's transparent, trendy, and mobile. The spherical house is designed to be 50' in diameter, give a panaramic view, generate it's own power via solar cells in the shell of the dome, and save you 25% on energy costs due to the shape.
The designed "sphere house" is divided into three floors that are organised around a core - "services/distribution wall". Open plan design allows easy changes to work and living spaces.from Marcin's site
The central core includes stairs, kitchen (social and family assembly point), bathroom and toilets.
The service/distribution wall accommodates all ducts, services, central heating system and electrical connections between floors.
The upper floor is designed as a highly flexible living space with up to two entrance points allowing you to connect to the outside.
He thinks that Londoners have turned their collective backs on the Thames - so he has the grand of idea of placing many, actually right on top of it...or in it to be exact. The house would be a floating domicile that could actually double as a mode of transportation. Since the cost of land and availability is so scarce London might want to consider moving back on top of the dirty Thames.
I really think you guys should have some bigger pictures of that house. If you want to sell it, people have to see it. Great work, Preston Hobbs

So where will the mini-moo go? I don't think cows are fond of floating.

Makes me wonder what a waterbed would feel like inside one of these things. Would they cancel each other out?

Thank goodness for the privacy option. I had a second thought that perhaps this was the first step in a gigantic lab experiment and everything one did was being observed, and their habits studied for some humanities class at Durham.
As for having a floating home, I'll keep my flat anchored to the good old earth. Maybe a waterbed would give one the sensation of living on the Thames while awaiting further evolution of this vision.

hmmm...makes me think of the hamster cages now...But I still like the idea of my house floating along the river...and the walls have a photosynthetic component that can allow you to darken your walls. Thankfully!!!!

Certainly gives new meaning to the word "houseboat"--at first glance it made me think of the gerbil/hampster mazes that we built on top of their cages. There was one big sphere that the critter could move along the floor by his own motion. One thing for sure, with the transparent walls, there will be no doubt as to what is going on in the abode docked next door.
